For Reals

We’ve established that I’m horrible at blogging. In an effort to get better, here are some random happenings:

Some bratty kid kicked my dog at the pet store the other day.  Just walked right up and kicked her.  Then the parents SORTA said “sorry” before picking up the kid, hugging her and telling her it was [...]

Mirror, Mirror

It’s time for some reflection.  I haven’t been blogging lately.  It’s not that I don’t have anything to blog about, I’ve just completely lost interest.  In fact, I think my LAST blog was about not wanting to blog.
But that’s not what I’m reflecting on.  What’s interesting to me is that this is most likely one [...]

Let’s Talk about Stats, baby!

Posted on May 23, 2008. Filed under: Lost, Morning Freewrite, Random, blogging, insight, marketing, writing | Tags: , , , |

I was going to do another morning freewrite when I logged onto wordpress, checked my blog stats (as I do obsessively 3 or 4 times a day!).  So I decided to scrap the freewriting idea and focus on the sexiest idea I could think of–blog stats!!
Even before logging in, I was anticipating what I would find.   I’ve [...]

I’m Thinking Of…

My friend who lost his dad…  He was only 60 years old. An alcoholic, but a good guy.  And his mom died years ago.  Now my friend doesn’t have *any* parents.  What’s that like at 29? I mean, my MOM still has a mother.  Yeah, she has Alzheimer’s and is in the hospital right now.  But [...]

I’m looking at…

Posted on May 21, 2008. Filed under: Morning Freewrite, Random, blogging, drinking, family, insight, writing | Tags: , , , , , |

I stole this idea from http://simmonssays.wordpress.com/2008/05/21/writing-exercise/.  I’ll totes give her credit.
I’m looking at 30.  Yeah, that’s right. I’m getting fucking old.  One of those legendary stories growing up was how, at the age of 3 or 4, I said that Madonna should retire from being a singer because she was 30. Because she was ancient.  [...]

Why I Heart Lost

Posted on May 20, 2008. Filed under: Lost, Random, blogging, insight, pop culture, tv, writing | Tags: , , , , |

It’s no secret… I’m addicted to Lost.   Not since my pre-teen Family Ties days have I been so enthralled with a television show.  Although there have been plenty of shows that I’ve watched since, none have quite captured my interest like this one.  It’s honestly the *only* show I religiously watch every week.  So what [...]

Permanent Adolescence

I’m not 100% sure where this post will take me, but I’ve had a bunch of thoughts running through my head the last few days and I feel the need to get them out.  Maybe I’ll edit it later.  Maybe not.
I wrote a list of “things to do with my life” on the plane the [...]

I’m a jackass

The topic of this mornings freewrite is what an ass I am…. I went out the other night with work people and got ridiculously drunk.  Then I sent some ill-advised text messages/emails.   Then sent apologies the next day and haven’t heard back.  I’m probably being paranoid, but I just feel like I’m making a complete [...]

ATL: Day 1

Posted on May 4, 2008. Filed under: Random, drink, drinking, food, insight, restaurants, travel | Tags: , , , , , , |

The first day in Atlanta was a success.  Our fight was fine.  We made it to the hotel in time.  We got a portion of the booth set up.  Had a great dinner at La Tavola.  Lasagna was the special tonight and I had a half order of it with a half order of the [...]

Really?

Posted on April 30, 2008. Filed under: Morning Freewrite, Random, blogging, friends, humor, insight, memories, writing | Tags: , , , , |

I read a blog post* yesterday that said in order to determine whether a story is good enough to sell (it was a post about freelance writing) you simply have to guage people’s reactions to it when you tell them.  If they say “Really?”  it’s something that might be publishable/useable.
I wish I had saved that link [...]
